The Bright Families Mission is to improve the health, self esteem, economic status, and growth potential of teens living in San Diego County by sharing information, options and opportunities with at-risk youth.

Program Goals
  • To reduce the incidence of teen pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections in San Diego County
  • To increase the number of fathers who are actively involved with babies born to teenage mothers
  • To increase parental involvement in the sex education of children
  • To increase awareness within the community of the risk factors and consequences of teen pregnancy
Objectives and Strategies
  • To educate San Diego teens about reproductive health
  • To help teenagers make positive decisions about their lives
  • To increase self esteem among teens
  • To educate young men about the equal responsibilities of birth control and parenting
  • To ensure that parents are invovld in the sex education of their children
  • To engage the community in an ongoing, meaningful discussion about the problem of teen pregnancy and its solutions
